For an all encompassing growth of startups, imbibing the spirit of interdisciplinary and multi disciplinary approach - KUBIIC would like to open its doors to all the students and alumni, who belong to the departments/ Centre and affiliated colleges of the University of Kerala. The objective of KUBIIC is to foster a culture of innovation through promoting scientific inquisitiveness, research and establishment of companies through promotion of student start-ups, faculty start-ups, entrepreneurship, job creation, and university – industry collaboration.

Our area of focus for nurturing innovations will be on product-based innovations related to health care, energy and environment management, waste management, aqua-culture, agriculture, bio-technology, software etc. as well as products/services for education, research management, science and technology policy making. In subsequent years, we will create an atmosphere for the achievement of a steady patent culture and commercialization-oriented research mindset among teachers and students from the basic as well as applied science and engineering disciplines.

Objectives
To create awareness on innovation, incubation, product development and commercialization of products/technology/services.
To synergize the triadic relationship of university-industry-government for building better Innovation system and enabling knowledge flow.
To establish professional linkages with reputed international /national /state level R&D centres and industry. To bridge the gap between theoretical classroom learning and real-world applicability.
To enable the students/ faculty to meet the demands of industry, government and the broader community through research, workshops, seminar and empower the students to take their ideas from labs to markets.
To provide networking opportunities to students and facilitate their interaction with entrepreneurial communities through lectures, fairs, exhibition, industrial visits, etc.
To offer an all-encompassing support system in extending ideas, nurturing incubation, facilitating product development, assisting training and providing premises.
Governance
KUBIIC will have a governing council (GC) and an executive committee (EC) for discharging the duties and responsibilities. The Centre will be headed by a Director for the overall administration and providing a strong leadership.
KUBIIC, in line with the policies of the state and central governments, would provide necessary facilities for nurturing the startups. KUBIIC will actively support the startups with a combination of inputs, which could include:
Administrative support for the conversion of idea of students/ faculty/ researchers/ alumni/ other innovators into a working business model.
Support to identify the academic mentors for specific startups both from University and also from other Institutions.
Support to access the University infrastructure distributed across the various Schools/Departments/Centers as per the startup policy.
Support to commercialize R&D outputs and technologies into products through industrial linkage.
Other services with preparation of business plan, and consultancy (technical/legal) as well as technology support services.
Assistance to identify the financial support for startups
IP support and technology transfer
Conduct Idea day/hackathons among students
Selecting feasible ideas and converting them to startups/ incubating
Closely associating with all departments and centres
Conduct awareness workshops, providing business management advice and networking support and mentoring,
Periodic monitoring/ reviews of start-ups and course correction if necessary.
