The startup Biovent is working at the Department of Biotechnology, University of Kerala, Kariavattom. The venture focuses on bioproduct development, research sample services and academic research projects. Biopigment production from microbes and nutritive health mixture preparation are the two main ongoing project works. Biopigment production has bagged KSUM Idea Grant. The developing pigment can be used as an anticancer drug in its pure form while the crude finds application in various industrial sectors. The health mixture ‘Nutrimix’ is prepared from natural ingredients and has a shelf-life of six months without any preservatives. It can be taken as an immunobooster and anti- ageing powder. Several other short and long term research works for product development are on the way to release soon.
